SB Magazine

(April 2006)

2000 Reserve Shiraz: "What was most surprising to us when we gathered the rankings was that everyone agreed on the best and weakest wines in the tasting. Greg Norman Padthaway Reserve Shiraz, the top ranked wine, was hugely popular. Everyone loved the rich ripe fruit aroma with hints of black licorice and chocolate mint. Many of the tasters also remarked on the long finish of this wine."

Michael Franz

(November 2005)

2000 Reserve Shiraz: "This is a pretty remarkable wine, as it is dense and flavorful. Seriously concentrated and intense, it is also formidably fortified with oak. This wine has no intention of sitting still for you to study. It doesn't conform to anyone's notion of sophistication or gentility, but those looking for a wild ride won't be disappointed."

Wine Spectator

(December 2004)

1999 Reserve Shiraz: #8 (in Top 100): The Classic-Scoring Releases of 2004: "Golfer Greg Norman launched his own wine brand in 1999; this is the most impressive release we've seen to date. Winemaker Andrew Hales blended grapes from the old vines of Mt. Ida's Coppermine Vineyard in Victoria and the limestone soils of Coonawarra. Fermentation took place in small, open-top tanks; the wine was aged in new and 1-year-old French and American oak barrels for two years."

Blend sources in Coonawarra in South Australia and Mt. Ida in central Victoria. This red vibrates with ultraripe fruit balanced by juicy acidity, finishing with remarkable harmony."

1999 Reserve Shiraz: "Outstanding. One terrific bottle of wine: lush, ripe, black fruit, with the intense fruit covering the entire palate. The balance is well-nigh perfect, too. Not here yet... Wine to look out for, though. It was the best Shiraz I tasted in 2002."

Connoisseurs Guide

(July 2002)

1998 Reserve Shiraz: "Among the very richest and most effusively fruity of the Aussie bunch. Tempers its generosity with a surprising sense of polish. Big without being blustery, it shows a broad range of complex cocoa, spice, smoke and dried-flower qualities while remaining ever fixed on fundamental fruit, and its lengthy finish lingers on and on. Its careful mix of prettiness and potency is a model worthy of emulation by any and all who would make syrah."
