2004 Limestone Coast Shiraz
Tasting Notes
The 2004 Greg Norman Estates Limestone Coast Shiraz is a rich, crimson red with purple hues. The wine has lifted Shiraz aromas of fragrant herbs, dark plum, black cherry, liquorice and spice. The palate has refined flavors that are complex mix of dark berries, plum, black cherry and anise. Well-integrated flavors of salty liquorice, wood smoke and spice come from parcels of fruit matured for 15 months with new and seasoned French and American oak. Fine soft tannins and firm structure round out the palate.
Grape Source
The fruit for this wine was sourced from vineyards in Padthaway and the famous Coonawarra region in South Australia. Dark, rich and full-bodied Shiraz fruit shows extra finesse, particularly when the vineyards are grown on the rich red soils that overlay the region's hard limestone rock.
Vinification
The individual parcels of fruit were harvested then fermented separately in rotary and static fermenters. The juice was gently moved over the skins to extract the rich colors and flavors. The wine was pressed off the skins and then racked into seasoned and new American and French oak for maturation prior to blending and bottling.

"Lithe, with tangy acidity to balance the ripe blackberry and licorice flavors, which linger nicely as the finish picks up austere tannins. Drink with something meaty. Best from 2007 through 2012." - Harvey Steiman

"This Australian red is almost purple in color and gives off an almost olive-like nose. There are touches of dark skin fruits throughout this wine with a bit of spice in the finish" - Rick Lyke
